Everybody knows that politicians are for sale to the highest bidder. Get out your checkbooks because the Supercommittee too is for sale. The auction has begun, and those with deep pockets are currently putting in their bids. Don’t miss out!

Perhaps the most important things we could do politically in this country are to reverse the Citizens United decision (so that legalized graft and bribery is not as obvious), to seriously reform campaign finance, and to dramatically alter how lobbying works in Washington.

In other words, as Dylan Ratigan is pushing hard for, get money out of politics.

In any case, the so-called “Supercommittee” is the mutant offspring of a “bi-partisan” compromise between Obama and the Regressives. It’s job is to figure out how much less the government of the people, by the people, and for the people will do for average people so that it can continue to serve the ultra-rich, corporations, and the military industrial complex.

Here is a good predictor of what we can expect from the “Supercommittee”:

Supercommittee rakes in corporate donations

A military contractor and a pharmaceutical giant are among those writing checks to protect their business interests

by Justin Elliott

Deep-pocketed corporate interest are writing big checks to members of the supercommittee, the group of 12 senators and members of Congress who have been tasked with coming up with a plan to cut over $1 trillion from the budget in the next decade.

Ten members of the committee got $83,000 from some of the biggest corporate donors in the country in the three-week period in August that is covered in the latest federal election filings, according to a new analysis by the Sunlight Foundation.

$10,000 of the total came from the political action committee (PAC) of pharmaceutical giant Pfizer. Another $8,000 came from the military contractor Lockheed Martin. Also on the list of donors: Goldman Sachs and Comcast. These are corporations seeking to protect lucrative government contracts.

The supercommittee faces a Nov. 23 deadline to come up with a budget cuts package that will then get an up-or-down vote in the House and the Senate.

The biggest recipient of big donor contributions on the committee was Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI), with $28,500. The biggest recipient on the Democratic side was Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-CA), who took in $15,000.

Remember, these are preliminary numbers. It’s going to be a lucrative few months for those lucky enough to have been appointed to the supercommittee.

Aw… poor obama, he just needs 20 more years to get something right. LOL G.W. Bush spent half the taxpayer dollars in eight years then obama did in 30 months, and if you deny that your only lying to yourself because that is a fact! It doesn’t really matter at this point, obama is finished. Our next 2012 President will be a Republican conservative and begin to repair all the damage this administration has done, should take about one year to accomplish.

  7. “Persistent criticism of Occupy Wall Street for failing to specify demands has helped obscure the fact that groups of people within the movement have been mobilizing around concrete political goals.
The latest example is a small group of occupiers who will set out tomorrow on a 230-mile march from New York to Washington, where they plan to arrive on the eve of the deadline of the congressional supercommittee.”

Gang of idiots, to raise the debt is to give Obama another credit card so he can continue the spending spree to bankrupt the country deliberately. The whole nexus behind this is Soros organs and the Islamic organs in Obama, and Clinton are the Muslim agenda of destroying the West economically, militarily, and domestically. Scare tactics by Obama is the status quo, like all muslims use in the media and to try and get their way.

  9. I like his message to those who want to undo the last deal: No. It’s been a while, Mr. President, since you’ve shown balls. Keep the spine you grew, and kick the Republican ass, not just right now with this debt stuff, but in the next election as well. Your job depends on it.

  10. Obama is an excellent speaker but a master CON-man who always seeks the spotlight so he can continue to defraud America- not only with his FORGED but by hiding his criminal past at the cost of millions- an HONEST or decent man would not hide his entire past unless there was a lot to hide- just GOOGLE “LARRY SINCLAIR” to hear what one of his old friends has to say about his criminal past- I believe LARRY because Obama has hidden everything-

These cuts are due to the Supecommittee not being able to come to an agreement. That Supercommittee was made up of an equal number of Dems and Reps. The reason the Supercommittee had to meet was because the Congress could not agree on cutting back on the deficit, so they punted the ball to the Supercommittee. The Congress KNEW if the Supercommittee could not come to an agreement, there were to be across-the-board cuts in 2013. Blame ALL politicians for this mess because they are unwilling to compromise for the benefit of the American people. And if the American people don’t do something about their elected politicians in Congress, they should be aware they will end up paying the consequences. That is why I feel it is SO to search out the REAL truth about politicians and make your voice heard to the politicians. They are voted in by us, and are supposed to work for us.
